Founded in 1988, Spectrum was purchased in September, 2014 by Ellie Scofield, a longtime employee and owner of Galloways Farm in Parkland. With 30-plus years in horse training and equestrian retail sales, Ellie is overjoyed to continue the tradition of the independent tack shop that is here for the local equestrian community.
All employees are local riders, family members and equestrian supporters! We use the products we sell. We know how to fit you safely with helmets, how to dress you for the top shows or for your first schooling show! We are part of the community! You will see us at the barn, at your next horse show or maybe on your next trail ride!
“From my start in the hunters as a child and junior rider, to my dressage training, showing, and horse care experience, and of course my retail experience here at Spectrum and in a well-known Maryland tack shop, I have a clear vision of how the pieces fit together to create a fantastic shop for the hunter/jumper rider, the dressage rider, and for the new rider just starting out,” said Ellie.
“My goal is to let the community know that we are here to help them fall in love with horses and riding.”
Besides meeting South Florida horse owners’ various needs, we believe that local store ownership provides a way in which to bring the equestrian community together. “Spectrum has evolved into a fun gathering spot for all horse lovers. Our customers love to just come over for coffee, meet others and socialize,” says Ellie. “You will see that at the Spectrum Mobile Unit at horse shows also – if you want to see friends and chat stop by the trailer, we are there for you!”
